The sakara is a frame drum from the Yoruba in West Africa. It is made of a clay frame with wooden pegs that are used to tune and played with a stick. There are different sakara used in ensembles. The lead instrument is called iya ilu, and is supported by the omele ako and omele abo. The iya ilu leads the call response relationship with the other drums.
